Hapag-Lloyd raises rates from Asia to Latin America

German container line Hapag-Lloyd has announced a new General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from Asia to the West Coast of South America, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

The GRI will apply to cargo transported in 20′ and 40′ dry containers, including high cube equipment and 40′ non-operative reefers. The rate increase will take effect on August 28 for all the mentioned destinations, except for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, where it will be implemented on September 13.

Details of the Rate Increase:

  • 20′ Dry Container: US$2,000
  • 40′ Dry Container: US$2,000
  • 40′ High Cube Container: US$2,000
  • 40’ Non-operative Reefer Container: US$2,000

Geographical Scope:

  • From Asia: China, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos, Brunei.
  • To: The West Coast of South America, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, including Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
