German parcel and logistics giant DHL has revamped its leadership team in the Americas region, overseeing the Global Forwarding, Supply Chain, and eCommerce divisions.
On Wednesday, DHL Global Forwarding informed customers that Michael Young will assume the role of CEO for the United States, effective August 1. This change comes as Robert Reiter prepares to leave the company to pursue new professional opportunities abroad.
Young currently holds the position of CEO of Global Forwarding for the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as the role of president of Global Motorsports. With over 30 years of experience within DHL Global Forwarding, he has held senior commercial and leadership positions across the organization at various levels, including country, regional, and global.
During his tenure as CEO for the UK and Ireland, Young guided the organization through significant macroeconomic challenges, including the Brexit transition. In his concurrent role as head of Global Motorsports, he has been instrumental in strengthening DHL’s longstanding partnership with Formula 1, as per the company’s statement.
In a separate development this week, DHL announced the promotion of Scott Ashbaugh from chief commercial officer to CEO for DHL eCommerce Americas. This move comes in response to the scheduled retirement of Lee Spratt at the end of the year. Ashbaugh will be based at the Americas headquarters in Weston, Florida.
Ashbaugh, who has held diverse leadership roles at DHL for 16 years, transitioned from overseeing operations across both domestic and international networks to the revenue side as chief commercial officer. DHL emphasized his extensive knowledge of DHL’s delivery systems and the e-commerce environment.
Pablo Ciano, CEO of DHL eCommerce, expressed his satisfaction with Scott’s appointment as the new head of DHL’s Americas operations. Ciano highlighted Scott’s significant contributions to their success and his confidence in his ability to lead the division’s growth strategy while empowering talented leaders and employees to deliver reliable, affordable, and sustainable services to customers.
On June 20, DHL Group announced the immediate promotion of Mark Kunar to CEO of DHL Supply Chain North America. Kunar replaced Patrick Kelleher, who resigned after only one year in the role. Kunar previously held the positions of CFO and chief strategy officer for the regional business unit.
Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, praised Kunar’s broad supply chain and management expertise, coupled with his proven commercial acumen and balanced leadership style. He emphasized Kunar’s suitability to lead DHL Supply Chain North America into the future in this crucial market. De Bok expressed confidence in Kunar’s leadership to guide the division’s continued focus on excellence and innovation in operations.
Kunar’s responsibilities include managing the business across the United States and Canada, leading a workforce of 52,000 associates. His immediate focus is on smoothly integrating newly acquired businesses, including Inmar Supply Chain Solutions, IDS Fulfillment, and CryoPDP, a specialty courier serving the pharmaceutical industry based in Tennessee.
Kunar joined DHL Supply Chain in 1996 as a financial analyst and has since held various operational, finance, commercial, and functional management positions. He became CFO and chief strategy officer in 2024.
